Issues of Basic Right

Our issue we are focusing on is basic rights in the universal declaration of human rights. Each of us will have two sub topics that we are going to talk about. I am going to research and focus on shelter and poverty, while my partner will focus on health care and education. We both will be finding these issues on Zimbabwe because it's one of the major 3rd world countries who need help.  I picked this issue because I thought it was an interesting issue to write about because if everyone has the right to food and shelter, than why are there still countries out there like Zimbabwe who still live on the street and are living in poverty? It is still an on going issue that are affecting a lot of people in the country. We are going to show our research in the style of a power point presentation. We each will have our own slides and present on the areas we are focusing on, which for me is hunger and shelter.

What are the issues that you think you would like to focus on, why?

I am interested in learning about the right to special care if handicapped in the declaration rights of child because it is an interesting topic that is unique. I want to learn what special care handicapped people are receiving like what school they go to or what place they are treated with special care.

I am also interested in learning about food and shelter for all, in the Universal declaration of human rights because it is still an ongoing issue. There are still people on the street who are homeless and are in poverty but they do have a right. I want to learn more about the countries that are living in this problem like 3rd world countries.

Share 3 things that you learned from Monday's presentation

-I didn't understand the concept of wiki leaks before, but now I know that it is an international organization website where they post anonymous news sources and news leaks.
-Amnesty International's main intention is to release prisoners with their ideas relating to their beliefs, color, ethnic origin, language or religion. Peter Benson found the group in London.
-I also learned that the apartheid in Africa was when the whites owned all the lands, the whites lived in cities, the whites got all the money, the whites got all the education and all the Human Right’s, while the Blacks had none of these.  I didn't understand what apartheid meant before, but now I know.

Describe 3 things you learned from Thursday's presentation

-I learnt that the Jewish deaths were 63 % in the holocaust. I am really shocked because that's over half of the population. It started when Hitler spoke against Jews even before the start of WW2.
-I also learned that before the name was created of the united nations, it was called the League of Nations.
-Another thing I learned from Thursday's presentation is  the other Europeans in Leipzig overpowered Napolean. Napoleon persuaded his country to work with him. He gave them peace and made them rich, so they co-operated.

Describe 3 things you learned from yesterday's presentation

I learnt that the Cyrus Cylinder  was a clay cylinder made by Cyrus the Great about him conquering Babylon and how he set the Jews free. It is the oldest and first human rights.
I learnt that Magna Carta wasn’t a very good person; he put people in prison because he wanted their belongings. He had to sign the great charter, which he was furious about. If he didn’t sign it, his nobles would leave. If he didn’t follow the laws, the people would banish him out of the castle and country.
I also learned that after Napoleon declared himself Emperor of France, he established a new set of laws called the Napoleonic Code. After making France rich and peaceful, he wanted to conquer the rest of the world and wanted to become emperor of the world.

Is your presentation completed? Explain.

I think I have all the information and slides I need for my presentation. I have proofread my work for error and mistakes and I paraphrased the information I got from the websites. I also finished listing down all my sources in my bibliography by using citation machine. My bibliography is also in alphabetical order and in the right margin format. For the visual appearance, I have added pictures that relate to each slide of Gandhi, and have animated the transitions to make the presentation more interesting. Overall, I think I am done with my presentation.

Why is a bibliography important?

A bibliography is important because the teacher can go to the link and see if you have plagiarized, because if you have a project or report, you are suppose to paraphrase which means put it in your own words, not copy and paste. For the student, a bibliography is important, because you need to give credit to the sites that you have taken the information from. Also it is important for the student, because you just paste the link, so next time you can click on the link, and revisit the website again, if you want to check something or want ti get more information from the site.
