How can a peer review of work be helpful?

It can be helpful because there will be someone who will check and edit your work, so if you missed any mistakes, your peer will help you to correct your work and improve it. Another reason a peer review can be helpful is that you get their opinion, from a different perspective. Because another person's point of view, maybe different than yours. They give you feedback and constructive criticism.

Describe your progress on your ELP

I have already wrote down all the topics we learned related to human rights in a spiderweb on Mind Node. I have also already chosen which topic I want to focus on for the fashion show, which is basic rights because it would be easier since I am researching about this with my partner for my biography. I already have all the information I need for this topic and I feel that this topic is important for people to learn about since this is number 1 on our class human rights list. Without basic rights, you can't live, and everyone should deserve the right to basic needs. My partner and I will combine the information we have together on food, shelter, healthcare and education and work together to design a clothing material. So I have already finished part one on my ELP, and will now begin part 2 with my partner.

Suicide in the Trenches

I knew a simple soldier boy
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.
In winter trenches, cowed and glum
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
No one spoke of him again.
You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

1. It’s about this soldier boy trapped in a trench because he’s sad and all alone, daydreaming in depression. In the end, he shoots himself. The crowd didn’t know about the boy, they were cheering when the soldiers came home but the crowd doesn’t know that the people who died weren’t acknowledged. They also didn’t know that the war with all its glory, has more than one side.

2. It’s secretive, there’s more than meets the eye. People cheer and are happy, but behind it, the soldiers are actually lonely and forced to do it because it is their duty.

Disscuss your biography/post your plan/talk about how you will present your individual

Our biography will be presented in a story form. I will be focusing on a person going through poverty, without a roof over their head. My biography would be about a person who is from London and got abandoned by his parents, so he went through a rough life and was living on the streets with his dog. It was hard for him, because not only does he have to feed himself, he also has to feed and take care of his dog Kiya, which is a hard thing because he has no job, therefor he doesn't have enough money to survive and support himself.

I will present my individual by using power point as our finished researched product. We will be going through each subtopics by taking turns, so every other slide, I would be presenting and talking about my topic which is food and shelter.

Discuss your impressions of yesterday's refugee assembly

I felt that they were strong, passionate, determined people because they went through really tough and horrifying events throughout their life, like their parents were taken away from them and they had to flee from their countries and live alone with their family away in a new one, but they still believed in themselves and could achieve things like learning how to speak English, even though when they went here, they couldn't speak a single English, they could only speak their own language. They also have big hopes and dreams like to educate other people, they want to make the world a better place.
